Here’s why Jerry Jones isn’t the worst owner in sports

An elderly man in a suit and sunglasses signs a jacket at a sports stadium.

Longtime fans of the Dallas Cowboys know the numbers all too well by now. No wins in the divisional round, thus no NFC championship game or Super Bowl appearances since the 1995 season. If you’re keeping score, that’s 29 seasons, 29 drafts and free agency periods, seven head coaches, hundreds of players and counting. The … Read more

rpaolinelli blog the shameful era of the entitled athlete is here

The rise of the entitled athlete was bound to come to a shameful head sooner or later. With the NIL here to stay in college sports, killing off the notion of the student-athlete for good, it was only a matter of time. Especially in college football, where players are raking in millions of dollars, and … Read more

Cowboys could welcome back up to 3 key players vs Commanders

Now that the 2025 NFL Draft has concluded, and the undrafted rookies are signing as free agents, it’s time to take stock of the NFC East. While the weekly schedules won’t be released by the NFL until May 14th, we do know the home and away opponents for all four teams. This year will be … Read more

Recent tragedies highlight need for changes in both the NFL, NCAA

Near the end of the 2024 college football season, LSU receiver Kyren Lacy was a potential first-round pick in next week’s draft. That all changed in mid-December on a road in Louisiana. Lacy was allegedly driving recklessly, speeding and passing in a no-passing zone that morning. An oncoming car swerved to avoid hitting Lacy’s car. … Read more

Who is the early leader in the NFC East in 2025?

04/05/2025 by Richard Paolinelli
Today is a good day for this play to die 1

Last year at about this time, I posted my way-too-early, pre-draft prediction post for the NFC East. As I did last year, I will mention that there are still a lot of variables in play that can, and will, change these predictions. We have the rest of free agency, contract negotiations, and the draft in … Read more

Does Roger Goodell have something against Cowboys, NFL defenses?

04/03/2025 by Richard Paolinelli
The NFL Is Not On a Witch Hunt Against The Dallas Cowboys

I’m usually not much of a one to get into conspiracy theories, but NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is really pushing the boundaries. For some time now, he’s been preaching at the altar of “Player Safety” when pitching rules changes. Sometimes to the extreme. We’re perilously close to having a flag thrown on a defender for … Read more

Today is a good day for this play to die 2

If you’re a Star Trek nerd like me, you’ve heard of the old Klingon saying: “Today is a good day to die.” Well, today is a good day for one of the biggest garbage plays in the history of the NFL to die. The NFL Rules Committee is poised to put an end to “The … Read more

Are the Cowboys looking at a free agent tight end in 2025?

03/28/2025 by Richard Paolinelli
Former Wolverine rookies showed up for Dallas in Carolina 4

Considering how many holes the Cowboys are trying to fill this spring, tight end might be the one position that they should ignore. Dallas has a solid top three tight ends on their depth chart coming into next month’s draft. Bringing in another tight end might be overkill. In other words, if it ain’t broke, … Read more

Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb top Cowboys' fantasy efforts 1

Even with Stefon Diggs signing a massive deal to join the New England Patriots on Tuesday, there does remain quite a few free agent receivers on the market. There was no way the Cowboys were going to spend that kind of money on Diggs. Despite many in the fanbase wanting to see the Diggs brothers … Read more

Are any top 5 free agent running backs a target in Dallas?

03/26/2025 by Richard Paolinelli
Projecting the Cowboys running back depth chart in 2025 2

The Cowboys have made moves to address a shockingly empty running back room this month. With Rico Dowdle packing his bags for Carolina, Dallas was left with Deuce Vaughn, Hunter Luepke, and Malik Davis at running back. That was not optimal. In the two weeks of free agency, the Cowboys have signed a pair of … Read more

Does Dallas have interest in the top 5 free agent quarterbacks?

03/25/2025 by Richard Paolinelli
The Dallas Cowboys rivalry with Aaron Rodgers

With this year’s free agency period now at two weeks old, there are several free agent quarterbacks still on the market. The Dallas Cowboys have two quarterbacks currently on the roster in Dak Prescott and Will Grier. They will almost certainly add a third sooner or later. But will that new quarterback come from free … Read more

#DALvsWAS: Michael Gallup Will Play, Value Extends Beyond Passing Game 1

We’re just two weeks into free agency this year. But there is one NFC East team that appears to be off to an early lead. The Washington Commanders have re-signed 15 of their free agents already. They’ve also added 10 more free agent signings and picked up two key pieces in trades. The Commanders are … Read more

There is only one pick to make for today’s Super Bowl

Super Bowl LIX kicks off this evening at 5:30 p.m. (FOX) with the Kansas City Chiefs looking to make history. Let’s face it, pretty much all of Cowboys Nation is hoping the Chiefs make the Eagles history. If you’re a Baltimore Ravens fan, you’re likely still playing the “what-if” game. What if tight end Mark Andrews had caught the pass on that two-point conversion? NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, may the Lord bless him and keep him — far from us — just can’t leave well enough alone. He’s been itching to expand the NFL to include teams overseas for years. Cowboys Defense On Its Heels at Chiefs with No Help from Offense Again

Now it’s time for serious football as the Divisional round of the NFL playoffs gets underway this weekend. Last week’s wild card round saw only one “road” team win. A few wild card surprises this week 1

It was a tale of two conferences in the wild card round this past weekend. Especially when it came to my picks. In the AFC the three division-winning home teams cruised to relatively easy wins. The NFC was a touch different. Two favored teams fell short of advancing to the divisional round in the NFC … Read more

This streak lives on in the NFC East

01/07/2025 by Richard Paolinelli
Cowboys did something on Sunday they haven’t done in 65 years

The NFC East closed the books on the 2024 season with two surprisingly close games. For half of the division, Sunday was the last time the teams will take the field until this fall. The other half still has work to do. Unsurprisingly, the teams with games yet to play emerged on top Sunday afternoon. … Read more
