This privacy policy applies to the Daily Rivals Sports app and all team-specific flavors published by Daily Rivals Sports (collectively, “the app”). The app is offered free of charge and supported by advertising. This page explains what information the app handles, why, and who else sees it.
By installing and using the app, you agree to the practices described here. If something is unclear, contact us and we’ll do our best to clarify.
What the App Collects
The app itself does not ask you for a name, email, account, or any personal details. There is no sign-up. Your saved articles, read state, and preferences live on your device and are not sent to our servers.
The app does, however, rely on third-party services that collect information automatically. The main pieces of information involved are:
- Your device’s Android Advertising ID, used by AdMob to serve ads
- Approximate device and network information (device model, OS version, language, coarse network info) used by ad and analytics services
- Crash and diagnostic data when the app encounters an error
- An anonymous push notification token issued by Firebase Cloud Messaging, used to deliver alerts about new articles
None of this information identifies you by name. We do not collect your precise location, contacts, photos, microphone, camera, or files.
Third-Party Services
The app uses the following services. Each has its own privacy policy that governs how it handles the data it receives:
These services may use the Advertising ID and similar identifiers to measure ad performance, prevent fraud, and serve relevant ads. You can reset your Advertising ID or opt out of personalized ads at any time from your Android device settings, under Privacy > Ads.
Article Content and External Sites
The app pulls news articles, podcasts, and videos from publicly available feeds (RSS, Atom, YouTube). When you open an article, the app may load it through a web view, which means the article’s host site and any third-party scripts on that site can see standard browser request data. We don’t control those external sites — review the privacy policy of the site you’re visiting if that matters to you.
Push Notifications
If you allow notifications, the app uses Firebase Cloud Messaging to send alerts about new articles for the team your flavor covers. The token used for delivery is anonymous and tied to the install, not to you. You can turn notifications off at any time in the app’s settings or in your device’s notification settings.
Crash and Diagnostic Data
If the app crashes or runs into an error, Google Play Services and Firebase may send a diagnostic report so we can identify and fix the problem. These reports include things like the device model, OS version, and the part of the app that failed. They do not include your saved articles, search history, or anything you’ve typed.
Children’s Privacy
The app is rated Teen (IARC) and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used the app and information was collected, contact us and we’ll take appropriate action.
Security
The app uses HTTPS for all communication with our backend and with the third-party services listed above. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we use reasonable, industry-standard practices to protect data in transit.
Changes to This Policy
If we change this policy, the updated version will be posted on this page. Substantial changes — for example, adding a new third-party service or a new category of data — will be reflected in an updated date at the top.
